the story reminds me of something else.. a jap folktale i think. about a selfless kid i think. its like this. but the people keep asking him for his body organs. and his not prostitute..

oh they're not humans.. they're monsters and the setting is in the forest too. at he end he only has head..? and he gazed at the stars..

Could be some other folktale that it reminded you of such as "The Most Foolish Traveler in The World " by Natsuki Takaya. and etc.
