the thing however is that they are still children in the present. You shouldn't hope for something between two children because in a few years it MIGHT happen. For now, they're friends. And it's best to leave it at that, since, they're children. Don't speculate on a child's future relationships with people who are also children. The dynamic the two kids have is a popular one, so I'm sure you can find a story with similar characters who aren't kids, and thus you won't have to have to hope for them to grow up and be together.

While I do love the story, and the kids were cute, I think there's a concerning amount of people wishing that the kids had gotten together. While sure, they might be gay, in the story, at the current time, they are in like- elementary school, preschool even. Hoping that these children date at the age they are at is like saying "wow my baby's such a lady killer" Because your gremlin 2 month old held a girl's hand or something.

Unless they are old enough to understand the basic concepts of love and sex, don't ship children or talk about how they'd be attractive in the future.
