it is later revealed in the novel that due to his fourth wall or smth nobody can actually see/remember/be fully cognisant of what he looks like… and they gloss over this fact too (and yep he's a very unreliable narrator so a lot of readers don't actually pick up on this detail, it is only mentioned cursorily with the most obvious hint a few hundred chapters in with the TV in demon realm showing him - but with a blurred out face)
So some female characters just teasingly call him ugly lol
