Yes he has been a complete asshole but he shows regret and guilt for that and apologized for how he treated Xiaobei 2 times now, and hasn't Danqing done even more worse things to Xiaobei, Danqing has also almost raped the Xiaobei 3 times now and would've even let some random guy rape him after he drugged him yet no one mentions that and completely ignore and turn blind eyes to his crimes and focus solely on bashing Bailang.

Bailang did begin to treat Xiaobei better after chapter 18 and from there on began to slowly get better and is still getting better his development for that is just slow.

I don't say you need to forgive Bailang but he does deserve a second chance and you can't just keep on solely bashing him when another character in the manga has done even more terrible things to Xiaobei.
