i feel deeply for hyun. i'm way more privileged than him but academic success has always been my priority. i don't deal well with being second place. moreover for hyun, he feels that his only redeeming quality is him being top-scorer in school. and to add salt to the injury, he's beaten by the person whom he tutored, who really doesn't *need* to be a top-scorer because he's already had everything hyun's ever wished to have without having to do anything. it might seem egoistical for him to be jealous of myungook, but i totally empathise with hyun. life isn't fair. he is allowed to protect his feelings before anyone else's. it might lead him to do stupid things, and i wouldn't really condone them, but he is fully within his right to feel disappointed and hurt and try what he can to protect himself from feeling that way again.
