Well, the reason no one's expression ever changed is that the Blood Brothers Book series, as well as "The Sultan's Harem Bride," and several others were illustrated by Shion Hanyu. Her illustrations are very close to sum-e, very like watercolor in type, and the expressions on her characters faces are, shall we say, not very expressive. Somber and pensive is the usual expression on her characters. I really do like her art, but it tends to set a heavy mood in her manga.
I cannot emphatized with anything in this story. True that the ML is an ass, like usual...and the FL is dumb, like usual. There're also that stupid boss and an ex-coworker who talking while the CEO is giving speech (rude). But for me, the mangaka was not successful in portraying the story. Even the ML's expression hardly change.
