Well to put it simply, it's like a nickname put the last syllabus of the name of someone younger.
In this case, her current name is xingling, so becomes xiaoling. Since her past name is xialing, she was called xiaoling as well.
I am on chapter 56 and the names are confusing me. In her 2nd life, her name is now Ye Xingling isn’t it? So why does the boss and other people sometimes call her Xiao Ling which sounds too similar to the name she had in her first life which was Xia Ling. So what’s up with the 2 different names, why do they sometimes call Ye Xingling, Xiao Ling?
