She was originally the character in this story. She sacrificed her life to save asef originally when she was younger and her father was a good guy. Asef was originally hers but because she died for him he loved the person closest or most similar to her, her twin sister.
Since he was tampered with devilish stuff, his mark was hidden.
Thanks for the spoilers!! I especially like empathy being tied to powers and I can tell that she's favored by god since god always addresses her as his child...first reincarnating her then allowing her to heal I guess emotionally and physically.
