Everybody talking about the age gap

This seems like a sweet and innocent manga, dunno why people are going off on it like they just saw the two characters having a sexual relationship right off the bat. I’d like it if readers actually were raised in Japan so they aren’t biased because of their own countries views and laws.

Me looking at the comments about age gap:

(● ̄(エ) ̄●)

Age gaps are really common irl, no matter whether people like it or not, they happen more often than people think. Parents these days have large age gaps too. I really don’t care about it at all since it’s fine if the couple chose to have a relationship after graduating. There are even teachers who have gotten married to one of their students AFTER they graduated. There are classmates (high schoolers) I know in the U.S. that have dated guys in their 20s. Especially when the younger one of the relationship hits there 20s, nobody could really give a crap about it.

I personally don’t think I’d prefer a large age gap between me and my partner, but at the same time that’s just me. Everyone else who do have a large age gap, then that’s their own business, not mine.

I dunno how other countries work so it could be different, I only know in the U.S. it’s not legal to have those kinds of relationships with minors. But people need to realize that this is a manga aka fake/not real. Just cause someone hates large age gaps, doesn’t mean that it applies to you. I know people irl who’s parents have age gaps from 5-7 yrs or 11-12 yrs, the couples involved are great but it’s none of my business what’s going on with THEIR relationship.

I dunno if some people just grew up around people who are close in age and think such relationships are bizarre or they had saw some bad experience with similar situations. At the end of the day, there are people who don’t have long age gaps, and people who do and you can’t do anything about it to stop it. Go ahead and be happy with having partners who are close to you in age, just don’t push your ideals on people who have nothing to do with you.

Girl. No one cares if there’s an age gap between two consenting adults. I’ll be damned if my 15/16 year old daughter dates someone in their 20’s. No one in the comments is talking about an age gap between TWO CONSENTING ADULTS, they’re talking about minors dating adults. And a teacher dating their high school student after they graduate sounds a little suspicious to me. I don’t EVER want relationships between minors and adults to be normalized. It shouldn’t be. Just because something is seen as “normal” in other countries doesn’t make it okay. Child marriage is normalized and perfectly legal in other countries and that shits down right disgusting. But go off sis.
And yes, the story is cute and harmless since it is fiction. So let’s not bring real life into this.

People are bringing real life into this. I’m not saying that I ever thought minors and adults being together were good, I’m just saying that it happens. I never said I like such situations IN REAL LIFE. I only don’t mind these stories because they aren’t real. Those consenting adults you’re talking about have large age gaps and at one point in their relationship, one of them was a minor in the past. Minors now also date adults, even if a classmate knows that another is dating someone much older than them, they would most likely mind their own business. There are high school students who date university students. There are tons of people in the world who do think such relationships are ok, and others who don’t, unless it directly involves someone they know or affects them, I don’t get why people feel the need to butt into business that’s not theirs. It’s not as if they’re reading about someone that’s close to them or themself.

There are also those people who say: “age is just a number” and I know that a lot of people have seen them. Tons of people can disagree with that but that’s their own views, why push their views on someone who doesn’t agree?

What I don’t understand is why people are going off on this one story when literally nothing happened between the two. If people were gonna complain about such a topic, then they should just go to a different story that actually has the minor and adult in an inappropriate relationship. People never want to talk about the difference between fiction and reality. Whenever it comes to romance stories, people would be mad if it goes against their own set of views. But whenever it comes to other genres like murder, crimes, etc. suddenly everyone is fine with it because they know it’s all fake. If they really want to argue about this kinda stuff, why don’t they go to YouTube and find videos about minors dating adults and call them out, because they’re at least real people not manga characters that don’t exist.

At the end of the day don’t get me wrong, I myself wouldn’t want to be with someone who’s much older than I am. And I don’t particularly think relationships involving students and teachers are okay. But I just think as long as it doesn’t affect the people in my life or myself, then I shouldn’t stick my nose in it. No matter what, even if people try to change how others think about long age gaps being ok, they can only tell them about it and it’s very likely that their argument would never get through to the others head.
