it's just the way the situations come about I think. I don't think it's anything against women, do you? The two lovers are always men, so women characters fall into the all-purpose off the rack bad guys or extras lol. don't you think? I mean, I don't really want to get to know the female characters in yaoi. I want the time spent on the lovers.
I agree, I didn't imply that it was against women. I just thought that authors should develop their characters equally, regardless of their roles. The main characters are not the only characters in the story. Their development is affected by the people around them, their situation and how they overcome these challenges. They affect the development of these characters in different ways, so flat characters makes the protagonist development very lackluster. If we have well-rounded rivals in stories, the development of the main protagonists will be much more satisfying for readers.
I'm sure I also want the stories to be more centered on the main couples, but for me, I look at the character development very critically. We could just have different focuses and that's ok!
Main thing is what we get out of the stories should be rewarding for all readers. :))
Ok we get introduced to 2 female characters, and right from the start one of them is already playing the villian card.
I know it's BL,but can we at least make the female characters likeable? Rivals are ok, but it's really good if they could have more depth. I always feel that they're rivals for the sake of it and their characters are just so flat.
