Chichi Kogusa is a nice one. It tells a story of a single father who is a travelling medicine seller trying to raise his only son after the death of his wife. It's set in the old Japan (is it during Meiji era? not sure). It's kind of heart-warming, as the father tries to balance work while tackling the challenges of raising a very young son who keeps reminding him of the pain from losing his beloved wife. The young child, knowing he is a burden to the father, tries really hard to be a good boy in the hope he can stay with his travelling father. The awkward love between the two is the focus of the story.
