By tricking the brother he's making sure he won't get in his way I think, he's also putting the brother in an akward relation with his sis which could lessen their communication which leads to them not giving each other hints about the guy.

I know it's like necessary to the plot and all, but i don't really get why he had to trick the brother too. I mean, if his goal was to take the money and dump the sister, he could have done it without faking having sex with him, i think?
