to religious people: offensive or not??

Have you guys ever been offended by the religious spin-offs in manga? As a Christian, I don't really mind, but I know some people are really bothered by it. For example, the sexy nuns, power of God, the giant crosses, creepy priests etc. Any religion is fine.

I wouldn’t call myself a religious person but my country is very religious and I’ve been in catholic school all my life lol. I still hesitate to be an atheist even though I’m more inclined to believe in the science of things. But no, I fucking love saint oniisan. Anyone who finds it offensive, bruh why. It’s so wholesome. As for other stuff, the only thing I’m bothered about it is the inaccuracy. At least research before you write. But other than that, I’m okay. If you asked me this 10 years ago when I was still in a school run by nuns, I would’ve felt uncomfortable haha.

I guess it’s just hard to get rid of all those years under a religious upbringing. I don’t go to mass anymore though. When I was in elementary we had one everyday.

The movie was amazing. It’s satisfying to know at least half of the religious jokes. I had theology as an elective in college though so I got to learn and visit shrines/synagogues of other religions.

As a member of christianity and closely tied to Buddhism, I really enjoy religion within horror because it's not really attacking a religion or a set of beliefs but the fact that people are able to hide behind a religion despite being true evil. I find it fascinating when mangas portray religious hypocrisy because it's definitely real.

However I find it appalling to try and sexualize nuns or priests. It's essentially like sexualizing a kindergarten teacher and having said kindergarten teacher prey on the children. It is disturbing to see members of these groups be portrayed in such a horrid light.

Oh, I didn’t meant saint oniisan, just a couple of mangas out there I’ve read with sexy nuns and shit lmao. Though I find it funny seeing bible jokes in the movie, particularly the part where Jesus was risen from the dead and the yakuza thought he was nailed out by his yakuza father. oh, and when he’s happy the water bottle turned into wine. It’s all very cute. I don’t think the author meant to hurt anyone when they wrote it.

For some reason some of the priests I see in anime are usually vampire hunters or something that are really good with guns lol.

But now that I think about it... I guess what I find disrespectful are those dumbass hentai mangas or fanfics that have the horny couple fuck on the altar (Bro, that’s nasty. People do service there. You’re not sticking a middle finger at God, you’re just being a dick.)— and I suppose it’s the same for people fucking at a Buddhist shrine.
