As a Chinese person I can tell you its just a stereotypical joke, they don't actually think that unless they're racist
Yeah I never got that either, we greet each other with a kiss on the cheek in my country(well not right now because pandemic) and hugs and pda are normal even with friends but a kiss on the lips are for romantic love only (unless you are drunk, people get even more ok with pda when drunk)
The worst is that in mangas they always believe that the kiss on the lips and sometimes the french kiss is a type of greeting between friends. I'm italian so you can guess how big is the "WTF?!" written all over my face when I read those parts ahahahahahah ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
