The question to be asked most likely is why he won't break off their engagement. But I think Melissa hits it on the spot that characters beyond their descriptions don't really have much going for them. The guy's a serial dumb-dumb+jerk that needs to burn in his own dumpster fire LMAOO

The reason why he won't break off the engagement is Podebrat family is the largest dukedom of the kingdom and the royal family need their help with running the kingdom, that's why the king chose Melissa as the crown princess and their engagement annulment may affect the relationship with between the royal family and podebrats. Basically, he's just afraid of his ass getting kicked by the king. :|

I've thought of that before! But I think you're giving him too much credit (￣∇￣") or maybe I'm underestimating his intellectual pov ??? Indeed, the king finds Melissa a great candidate but it's been pre-established since the beginning that he's been a vivacious fish in the ocean and doesn't seem to regard the engagement as something other than an obligation [or a chore, whichever] but leaves a stop sign to up there. He doesn't seem like the type to think about his country's welfare and both families' relationships, and more so comes off as a yolo i couldnt be bothered yada yada playboy character.

Was there a chapter where his pov was shown being afraid of a (well-deserved) ass-whooping from his father or any you've mentioned? I'd love to recheck on that if ever since his reason for not breaking it off is still vague in my memory.
