i thought somebody once said it means 'rotten girl' and 'rotten boy' respectively. it's definitely a derogatory term. so i never called myself a fujoshi XD

You're right. The character "fu" means rotten. It's an insult to call someone a fujoshi or an fudanshi, but most non-Japanese people don't realise this and refer themselves as a fudanshi or fujoshi. Basically you're calling yourself rotten for liking something like yaoi...
