It's as if they skipped the part where read that Sumi was gang raped by alphas and his beta best friend. That's why he didn't trust Utou easily.
I completely understand sumi. He is still traumatized from being raped so thats why he makes dumb decisions.
People hate him because to them utou is perfect and they want for him to be happy, so when sumi makes decisions that hinder that or makes decisions like that, they think that they don’t deserve him. Like no character is perfect. Sumi makes mistake, they hate. When utou makes mistake they look past it
