Well when the mental pain is too much, some people tend to seek for physical pain or something like that to make them feel better/forget the mental pain. This is not a really correct way of saying it but it’s what I think it is.
I didnt like how ryo went out and look for strangers to fuck him. I know he's heartbroken but why do things that will hurt you more??
