Jk. I bet this is just Rin's visual mental breakdown. Like these people are his mental image of them.

He's unwanted by his father because his birth "killed" Sakiko, the mom. Sakiko being a child is just his image of a mother he never knew. Rin remembered a clingy Sakiko because her memory always dragged him down. He couldn't live without being reminded of Sakiko dying to birth him. So, when Sakiko was trapped in the drawer and he's confused as to why no one knew her, it was a moment of rejecting Sakiko (his mother).

He doesn't want to pull out that memory again.

But time comes that he began to acknowledge his childhood through his friend Yama. His locked away trauma/bad memories of Sakiko begins forcing him to remember. He rejects this but the moment his father prayed to Sakiko (the mom) about not wanting Rin, the boy pulled Sakiko out of his memories. Now, all he could think of is Sakiko. He even says that its better if everything was Sakiko. To the point that he rejected his friends and wanted them to forget him.

So when the kid turned into Sakiko (the mom), it was Rin wishing that if he was gone, his father would've been happier to have Sakiko (the wife, no longer a mom since Rin is poof! Gone).

Must be. The father neglected him and rejects him at the end.
