In a way I appreciate the story ending without resolution because the reader can come up with an answer. Either pick one or neither.
I want to see THEM go to consoling. They are dangerous. As is, one or both of them may try this again to another susceptible person if nothing is done now.
I think they are both using him for their own selfish reasons and neither one is really thinking about his feelings or well being. I'm surprised he didn't run away, but then therapy might help him. They need to finish this story.
