I agree a hundred percent and people who make comments about it being dramatic and incest should really take one step back, I would hate it if people drop this cause they don't get why the story is set that way.
Sure if they were not separated 5 years ago and grew up together, there is some place to debate that okay, maybe making him ML might need a second consideration but they did not and people who make that comment should think about if this sentence is applicable then, won't ending you with Johan even weirder cause they did grew up together like alot people accused hari and eugene did

Eugene is gonna be the ml, their separation was necessary to the start of their love ,
Eugene didn't see Hari for a long time so instead of thinking of her as sister , it's logical that he sees her as a woman when they met since they didn't really grew up together like cabel or Erich (the fact that he kept buying clothes that doesn't fit her emphasize the fact that his vision of her as a little sister was going to break drastically when they were going to met since she grew and became more mature and beautiful).
So about the weirdess of their relationship to come, imo it doesn't really apply to the standard of our reality and time, so judging with our vision of what's normal in a fictional world who is going on in a really ancient century is not really logical.
Also why doing a simple story with a generic romance with Johan when we can have drama , complicated feelings and a more interesting scheme with Eugene?
It's like love , this is not a stable and quiet feeling, it strikes when no one really know how or why, it's powerful and profound like anger.
