Im genuinely curious too... like, is bullying that extreme in Japan? I know is a big issue in the WHOLE world and some people (independently of their country) take it too far, but is a constant theme in mangas. Also why the parents don't do anything? is that normal too? like if my kid comes come with any bruise... someone is going to pay for that.
Sometimes, reality may be even more cruel than what Webtoon depicts...

Bullying in asia esp. Korea and japan is seriously severe. There is also bullying in workplace. Look at this link. Caution: there are pictures how bad that girl got beaten up.

Also in korea the call people shuttle who have to bring them their juice or something else. E.g. bread shuttle
Really? I think it's pretty common, not the bullying part but "ordered to buy something" part. At least in my school days, some people from the popular group frequently asking others to buy something for them, sometimes they pay, sometimes they didn't, or order people to do their homeworks. Those popular kids trying to show their power by dominate classroom's atmosphere, making hierarchy by themselves, making it's normal for them to give order to people and it's normal to do what they told other classmates to do. Sadly people don't consider it as bullying. Capitalism at it finest.
I'm also in Asia. I was bullied before, but it wasn't in the level of getting hit. But, they would order me around to buy things, and even make me surrender my school items then return it destroyed sometimes. Putting gum on my chair table etc. They even put it on my hair once for "fun". I know what you mean by trying to assert dominance but at that time, I was really scared. Not only were they bigger than me, they were even sociable compared to me who was a total hermit. I couldn't help but flinch everytime they glare at me. I felt so weak. Even if some of classmates know what they're doing to me, my classmates were ignoring it because at the end of the day, no one is getting "physically hurt".
One thing I was grateful for though was that my mom noticed it. The signs of frequently buying new school items, and probably my mental state. She helped me gain courage. It was reported to my teacher. After that, they stopped targeting me. I was even relieved when they transferred.
I'm from PH, Southeast Asia. Bullying is prevalent in my country. Even in highschool, the bullying I've witnessed is quite distasteful when I think about it to this day, because there was a lot of gaslighting, along with the usual errands/giving up money crap. Honestly, it happens due to 'social hierarchy' that forms within circles. Shoujo mangas with those love rivals that spreads rumors about the heroine? Making them isolated during class and even at lunch breaks? I experienced those too.
Yes, I was quite lucky that time. It didn't really escalate where a principle needs to step in. To be honest, I begged my teacher, not to let the bully's parents know about the bullying. I was afraid of retaliation. I just asked to be placed away from them. Of course, I don't know what my teacher said/done, but they stopped going after me ever since. They were probably afraid once the grown-ups were involved.
Honestly I thought of reading this manga just to see how it ends, but I'm at the point of dropping it... ( ̄□ ̄||)
Does that happen in real life? Like being ordered to buy something, getting hit. Like if I was a bully isn't it fucking shameful to like ask for money? It's physically embarrassing. And the one getting bullied like fight back maybe? Like no bitch u buy your own fucking juice. Set your dominance, don't get pushed around.I've never seen this happen in real life so. Maybe it's never happened to me before cause I don't take shit but shit, does this happens in real life?
