Part of it was because she was not, in fact, a great dramatic actress, unlike much of her family. The other part was that she had an awful lot of egocentric and nasty a**holes not only in her family but in her profession. Her brother Benny, had to be one of the nastiest jerks imaginable. (I have to say that I've never understood why totally toxic people that happen to be relatives have to be pampered and loved when it is obvious that they have no love for others whatsoever.) He's the kind of person who would gloat happily over the total humiliation of someone who didn't deserve it, especially if he was the cause of said humiliation.
Actually, if you read the first book/manga in the series, she WAS one of the a**holes in her family. She and Bene BOTH treated their older sister like she was a slave, and beneath them. They constantly insulted and verbally abused and berated her. So yeah, Lucilla was attracting a bunch of people that were not unlike herself... i.e extremely toxic.
