Omg man we have similar story but in my situation I am the girl..
My boyfriend is best friends with my brother. They are friends from 1st Grade. I first saw my bf when I was 3 he use to treat me like sister and it was so annoying. Never mind when they went high school my brother stop bringing him over and they hung out more to his house and when once in a while he was coming over they always stayed on the bsmt.. my younger brother knew that I had a crush on him so he purposely avoided bringing him over. But then I went in high school and I saw him again.. but obviously he still treated me like a child so I got pissed and I started avoiding him, it made me feel awful and insecure so I thought that if a stayed in a safe distance it will be better for me and my sanity.
My bf wake up when one of their classmates asked me out in the cafeteria, I said yes because that guy was cute and helped me in our club activities and he treated me like equal. But both my bro and bf tag along with us in the movies.. was so awkward and I straightforward asked my bf why he is tagging along too, I understand my bro is super protective but why he? He said he came to accompany my brother but from that day he was always around me..
He was driving me nuts so I asked him if he likes me and he said yes but he doesn't know how to face my bro.. omg it was a pain in the a@@ never mind I suggested to hide our relationship for a bit until we were sure about us but my bro found out and he beat up my bf..
After that we have the same story with you, my bro was always with us, I never went to his house before I was 17 and even then he was always careful around me. We started dating when I was 15 and he was 18 and now we are together 4 years.. he still hung out more with my bro as they are in the same university and both love anime and gaming. But I understand they friendship and I really like that both of us are not to clinch to each other..

This is actually a very interesting story, though I usually read shounen. I can't really say much about the age gap since I have an age gap with my girlfriend, and I was 18 going on 19 while she was a high school freshman. It is difficult dating someone younger than you, trying to maintain a relationship with a bit of distance until they are of age lol but we made it by pushing through going on dates, holding hands, and kisses on the forehead and cheek (yeah I had a hard time as a guy but managed to stay strong) and I think that it was explained well in this that both sides have issues like the younger one might see it as being treated like a kid when they want to be an equal or the adult worried about how people would look at the relationship or how that maybe someone around the younger one's age would be better, and they showed that can overcome many things because of how much they care about each other. I really wish there was a little more to the story, but overall it is a good read and I enjoyed the ending and how each character pulled through till the end.
But Japan, I think we need to have a talk about your age here lol 13, really? I didn't even let my girlfriend into my apartment until she graduated high school, man. I barely could take her out on dates without her brother (my best friend since middle school) joining us lol though I enjoyed it, my girlfriend always threw a fit either because she wanted to spend time with me alone or visit my place and her parents or brother (sometimes even myself) wouldn't let her lol. Seriously, I had to look this up and I couldn't believe what I was reading - 13. I still can't believe it. I thought if it wasn't 18 it was at least 16.
