Hey guys, just a reminder that the Uke is an ADULT. He is 20 years old. There is no creepy vibe here- everything is an adult matter lmao
The people who are saying it’s grooming- i- no ma’am... no ma’am... grooming is when an adult tries to manipulate a child//teen into a sexual relationship. Once again, the Uke is an ADULT, and nowhere in the manga does the Seme lay a hand in him other than kissing him. Let’s please read the story rather than just look at the beautiful art or else you’ll miss some important information lollll

yeah, pisses me off too. He is a freaking ADULT and just because the seme feels old and refers to him as a kid, people think he is literally a kid and didn't bother to make the math that he is 12 years younger than the seme, therefore he is 20yo and so he is an adult.

You’re not wrong. But I think what makes people so uncomfortable is the uke specifically approaches the seme with the mindset of “older brother”/ friendly employer. Meanwhile from the start the seme has had romantic/ sexual intentions but relies on the uke’s misinterpreting these intentions to get closer to him under false pretense. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if he had been honest from the get go in his attraction or if we had seen the seme realizing his feelings later on as just a gradual transition of their relationship, but it’s the fact the seme had ulterior motives from the get go. It may seem harmless in comparison considering most yaoi would just segue this towards a rape to love narrative of “passion” post confession, but I think people are so used to this type of dynamic it overshadows that the seme hasn’t done anything inherently wrong but that his age and socioeconomic position is being used against him as credible reasons for why their relationship seems disingenuous now. In real life, seme’s behavior isn’t evil or bed per say given the uke is an adult, but the uke and seme are under the impression the seme is specifically infantilizing their relationship as the uke wishes to be treated with his youth in mind rather than his thrust upon maturity he’s had taking care of others constantly. Because the seme can’t make up his mind either in whether it’s the uke’s maturity or youth he desires as well this muddies the issue even further. So to conclude you’re right not understand this is likely the reason people are uncomfortable with this relationship.

Nice analogy ! And right, it is the dynamic and plot that does make people tense up- but at the same time I’ve read so many yaoi with tropes like this I’ve gotten used to it, and I’m sure others have too

I mean as far as plots go it’s pretty tame. I wish personally the author hadn’t started MC couple’s relationship they way they did to prevent the issues I’ve described. But like I said in real life you could fall on the fence of their relationship as being questionable or perfectly reasonable and neither side would be wrong because there is room for argument on both sides. It just falls down to what’s your boundaries in terms of relationship parameters, whether that means based on their relation to one another (teacher/student, boss/employee, pseudo sibling/ younger friend) socioeconomic, age, sex, race etc = preference. Fantasy allows people to have ago at any of these factors even the taboo and unconventional. Nothing wrong with that just realizing when that can skew your biases is important.
