Right? Sometimes people become cruel because they’ve been pushed into a position they don’t want, and they become really unhappy. It’s not an excuse...or maybe it is? But I don’t mean for it to be, but technically The fl did her brother dirty in the last life (if what I said is true) because he didn’t want it, he never thought it would happen, and he assumed she’s dumb. But then suddenly due to her, he’s forced into becoming king, into marrying a woman of her choosing, his mother gets what she’s always wanted, and he’s scorned by everyone because they all want the duke to become king (or someone else). His sister is hostile to him, his wife doesn’t love him either. He’s surrounded by enemies everywhere and in something he hates. So he does the one thing he can do, abuse his power to get rid of the ones who he considers “wronged him”.
This probably won’t be the case though, but if it was I’d completely get it. It’s a very human reaction. Immoral yes, and cruel. I probably put to much thought into it though, he’s probably just the run of the mill evil man who our fl has to defeat.
Wow... That is... Wow... I'm seriously speechless. That is smart! (⊙…⊙). But when I read your comment, I thought the same thing. Maybe he was just pushed on something that he really didn't want. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ It's kind of far-fetched, but it would be interesting if it actually is the case. I would want to see it though. ヾ(☆▽☆)
I dont know if he's really interested or just going along with it but I think he still have plans to be emperor. He's very insecure, the fact that he is illegitimate child, I think he is mocked by nobles (that's usually the case to other illegitimate childrens) and that make him feel inferior and very greedy to be the next Emperor so that he can look down to others and be superior to them... It's just I think he is not redeemable, coz yknow he already ascend the throne but still not satisfied. He kills his wife because he felt inferior to her, she is loved by the people... and also killed his baby to make frame his sister. I also like to think that she's jealous of MC (sister) because at least her sister is not illegitimate child and she's intelligent. That is a good theory but I think he is not redeemable...
Most stories I read like to make things as simple as they can, so most characters are either black or white. Not many are given much depth, even some of the main characters aren’t fully fleshed out (this story is just beginning so I’m not really talking about this) I agree with you, that he will most likely be the typical evil man who is the driving force for our heroin. I just like to speculate and make theories ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
I agree with this more... Lawrence is not cruel because he was forced into it but he is cruel because of his inferiority..
Because if Lawrence is forced to be emperor... HE could have plan for someone else to take over after him... after the previous emperor (his dad) died in exchange with hefty conditions that he will be protected and untouchable... Or he could build a truce to other candidates at that time... Or he could appoint someone to do all emperor's duties and have that person under his/her neck.
Bottomline is =>.. There are many ways to deal if you are not interested
If inferiority is the issue... Then it is easy to explain his actions more like he killed his own mother because of his resentment to her for making him illegitimate. His sister since she the legitimate of the Rozan and he is just an outsider. And he killed the saint because he is feeling inferior to the support given to his wife, the saint..
If he took them all out... He feels he cleared obstacles to feel more superior about himself cause no one will make him remember, he is an inferior and illegitimate child.
And yes..... He is not redeemable even he got the looks....
The devil comes in a pretty package. I agree, that this character is probably like this, but I also think that at some point in someone’s life, we have a moment that defines who we are and what will be the outcome. And in these stories I think it’s when the heroin (or hero) reincarnates, as it’s technically time travel. So that’s the point in time that matters. The time which started everything. But yeah, I do think that the prince (“prince”) will just be the stereotypical evil guy who’s petty af. I like to make theories and possibilities. And to share them with people.
I didn’t make this theory because he’s pretty. I’m doing it because he is going to be a semi important character in this story, and I find him interesting because so far, he’s not had much screen time. We only know him from another life time. And from the perspective of our heroin. It’s going to be interesting to learn about him through fresh eyes.
I so agree... They make the characters personalities either black or white. And usually the antagonist in the stories are always evil and the protagonists are the ones who's good. I dont even remember if I already read stories wherein the antagonist have a likeable and unpredictable personality. Worse, some of the antagonist are so unreasonably evil. (mostly Chinese manhua) ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ It's like I just came for the plot, because the character's personalities and actions are mostly just for the sake of plot progression.
I remember an antagonist who has a likeable and an unpredicatable personality. Look up "Holy Chef Crazy Empress". She's a cassanova princess. KSKSKSKSKS. She's really funny. XD! It takes at least, I don't know, a hundred chapters to get to her...? But, it's worth it. The story itself is great. In my opinion, one of my favourites. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
But...Lawrence? (Her brother) doesn’t seem all that interested in being the next ruler ngl. He just seems to be ...going along with it? Like I genuinely think that he’s a psycho, someone who doesn’t really have emotions. Not the psycho that becomes a mass murderer. So someone with psycho tendencies then? And so when our fl schemes these things, and is genuinely being a puppet as well to their mother, I think he may have put the two into the same box? And the same with his wife, because she liked our fl. And so he felt like getting rid of them was the best option? I realllly don’t know. He’s not right in the head either way, and I’m not excusing his behaviour what so ever, but I could see a potential different future for her brother? Not her mother though. I really do get this feeling that he kinda just wants to be left alone. He’s not being put into the light to much, and he just sorta shows up, asks questions then leaves. He’s done nothing that’s cruel (yet). He just seems to not gaf. Again, I think he’s at the cusp right now, the knifes edge so to speak. It’ll be an interesting read. And if anyone knows otherwise, please spoil me.
