SooWon

So my thoughts on him at this point is that at first I thought even if he’s doing this because King Il wasn’t a good king, I still hate him for what he did to Yona and Hak. He couldn’t become king because as we are all aware King Is wouldn’t have wanted that so he found a way to do so, kill Il, instead of help Yona with her duties and help show her how to fix some of the problems with the country by showing her around the place with her husband (which I’m starting to think her dad wanted Hak to be her husband so that wouldn’t have been too difficult for them all to do together since they were all friends), it wouldn’t have been too difficult to do for them all but he chose to murder her father in front of her and chase them both away from the castle. I hated him for that. After reading this chapter and seeing what Soowon’s father did and what his mother just let slide, I understand that king Il was protective of his wife and daughter and if Yoohon found out he might’ve tried to kill them both. Seeing as the notebook that Yona is reading this on is in Soowon’s room he knows what happened and he doesn’t care that King Il was trying to protect his daughter (who, mind you, he loved as a friend at one point) and his wife, he just cares that his dad is dead and it’s Il’s fault. Now I’m not saying that his emotions are t understandable but you don’t ruin the lives of the two people you claim to care about for his death when you find out that he was an unreasonable person who murdered so many people, you just don’t. After this chapter I’m realizing more and more that he just did this to avenge his dad and I can’t forgive that. If he were to have been doing this just for his political agenda to save the country that would be another thing entirely, I’d still hate him but I’d understand that maybe it was necessary evil but he had an ulterior motive, and a disgusting one at that. He’s dying, and maybe he knew he was already so he rushed to get things done, understandable. Yet now I know he just wanted to kill the man before he himself died, and now that I know that, any doubts I might’ve had about my hatred for SooWon have gone away and no one can convince me to like him. My love for Hak and Yona, literally doesn’t allow any sympathy for him anywhere in my heart. He’s human and so he let his anger get in the way or whatever but he stomped all over their hearts for his revenge and THAT I simply can’t forgive. People who love him might be able to get over that but I can’t. Even if the main characters themselves forgive him, which I completely doubt is possible.

I can totally understand where you got this. I feel the same. Any reason that he might have for doing all that just doesnt justify it.

Ikr I really hate him for what he did to Yona and Hak. Yeah I know he's a good king though but I bet Yona can do that too. She's accomplished many things now so I'm still with Yona and Hak and 4 dragons. I know he hates King Il but really doesnt justify what he did... He didnt do it for the sake of people. He did it for what he claims is justice for him. He claims the throne that he thought is for him. He's just repeating the never ending cycle of past. Killing and revenge. But thanks to that, Yona didnt harbored any of that though I wish Yona would express hate for Soowon coz I felt like that is the right thing. That is humane thing... No matter what, I cant really help to like Soowon...
