What's interesting is that they both have issues. We always knew Cole was effed up and Cole himself knows he's effed up (which is good, he's not blind to his mental illness). Alex seemed perfect at first, but then we see he has issues, and he's having to deal with it now....they kind of both are illuminating each other in a really not-so-functional journey.

It's not healthy and it's infested with their personal weaknesses/issues, but there is definitely a bond there. But I totally get why you think that. :)
they're in love, imo. but there's stronger reasons for them to stay with each other.
