Question for chapter 9

Does Maki have feelings for Aoki? Does this get developed later on?

Reading chapter 9, was the “strong feelings” he was talking about his feelings for Aoki or only about the secret of the murder he saw?

Yes, it’s heavily implied that Maki had feelings for Suzuki and now Aoki. Saying whether or not it develops later would be a spoiler.

It ended a long time ago. There is a prequel that was publishing recently though. Not sure if it’s still going.

Thanks. Was just wondering if there is a proper resolution to their ambiguous relationship in the end or if it’s left as a cliffhanger or vague still.

Well...both, kinda? This isn’t BL, so nothing is explicit, but it’s clear 5hey are very important to each other. Also, there was a bit of hint in the breakup chapter with Yukiko how things are going to end with Aoki and Maki.

Nice, in Kaguya hime an older work of the author there were also many homoerotic relationships that look like they were going to developed or at least be resolved, but then they were just dropped. I sometimes feel like this author might be struggling with internalized homophobia or suppressed feelings for the same gender since all her charakter´s behave like that....

At one point, the author did make a homophobia statement in the early years of writing this manga. I don’t remember exact what they said, but I think you may be right. Which is strange, because as you said, a lot of the characters they right are kind of gay...
