I know it's better off if Ash is resting cause he has been through a lot for his age but the reactions of many people like us will be different because Eiji came in the story. Because of Eiji and his genuine care of Ash and how he sees and accepts Ash for who he really is, we can't accept his death because we wish that Ash could have a happy ending especially with Eiji after all what he has been through.
We can see that he's tired of everything and Eiji's letter was what gave Ash the call to rest but FAKKKKKKKKK, IT'S JUST SO SADDDD. At first, i thought it was just a metaphor that he wants to "rest" BUT FAKKK, YES, HE IS RESTING BUT HE IS RESTING IN PEACE ASHHHHHH, you didn't deserve what you've been through... no one deserved what they've been through.
