Also, before y'all say anything, I don't believe the author is racist. I think they unintentionally fed into negative sterotypes and readers are allowed to think/say that's shitty without y'all telling them to shut up about it bc it makes you uncomfortable.
I'm so sick of people clowning in these comments; first off, y'all to NOT get to tell black people how they're suppose to feel about racism. While I don't think it's the authors intention, she IS ostracized because of her appearance, and part of her appearance is her dark skin making her "other". Colorism is a huge thing in both Japan and black community, so it DOES hurt when she no longer has dark skin and is treated so much better. The fact that y'all are dismissing the concerns of dark skinned readers is gross and also very concerning tbh. Clowenery.
