Beatrice has been trying to kill Rae, for reasons which are unknown yet. Rae had to tell the Duke about her previous life and that she read about him and Beatrice in a novel. Duke believed her. In previous chapter Beatrice tried to set Rae on fire, during an event held by the king. She got saved, the injury on her head they are talking about was from Beatrice hitting her with a vase to knock her out, when the king's fiance (forgot her name lol) failed to poison Rae.
