Well I suspect he did get because the family is fairly wealthy but sometimes with how severe it is people can get panic attacks/triggers from objects or places that brings them back to their trauma.
Also i agree that no kid should be subjected to that experience(of being locked up and called useless) like he was.
The rape scene really was not the best part of the story and could of gone to different approach rather then rape. All the stuff after was fine. It kind of made me tear up when we learn about what happened to the main character when he was little. No kid should ever go through what he had. No one should ever be called worthless, useless not valuable. We might not be great at one thing, but there will always be something that you can achieve. You just need the will to do it. One thing also had me thinking was, did the main character not receive the help after his traumatic experience? He obviously has ptsd(that’s what I believe), so did he ever receive help?
