wow the author is seriously so talented. her drawing is gorgeous and she also writes novels too??? amazing. i wish there is an english translation of her novels because i really want to read them :((

Oscar was planning on retiring?? I know he entertained the thought of leaving everything behind to leave with Waldo but then stopped and stayed... I’m guessing he stayed for racing and Lily. I’ve just finished reading this and my heart is in pain for lily and Oscar If Oscar was planning on retiring was he also decided on being with Lily? I love how you said “Waldo and oscar’s endless summer may have stopped for Oscar. I think Lily was a pretty big part of that? But till the very end I don’t think either lily or Waldo knew who Oscar loved. It’d make sense if Oscar said he loved both of them but in my opinion one was a past love and one was his current love? However it didn’t feel like he loved lily as much as he once loved waldo, you know what i mean? Well, he sacrificed himself for Lily and I guess that’s probably the most painful but clear evidence that Lily was loved? Crying rivers right now

Omg thank you so much for sharing all that. Would it be too much to ask if you can share more about what the book includes about Oscar and Lily? The manga was centered around Oscar and Lily but I feel like we learn so much about Oscar and Waldo instead... and I know the books are mainly about oscar’s past so that’s more Waldo than Lily... I’m just trying to make sense of Oscar and Lily’s relationship... in the manga we get more Oscar and Lily scenes but I feel like I only understood what Waldo meant to Oscar and maybe Oscar till the end didn’t even really understand what lily meant to him but it’s just so sad that lily has to live with the fact that maybe oscar loved him but he died partly because of him and I don’t think I’d be able to process all of that if i were him... the ending with the radio call between Oscar and Waldo I think that’s pretty reflective of their relationship... but that understanding between them was also the thing that stopped them from being together... Oscar also mentioned to lily that they wouldn’t always be on the same team and would be only seeing each other randomly but it didn’t feel like this would be as issue between them as much as it was for Oscar and waldo... Oscar did say to Waldo that their race was over so when he didn’t end up going to London with waldo it felt like he chose racing and Lily? It’s just confusing since he was entertaining the thought of retiring and maybe he was conflicted about whether or not or when he would quit... now I’m rambling too ahaha. I have so many thoughts and questions about phantom lolol I’m considering reading the novel but I feel like I’d just end up with more unanswered questions
