Like, there are some people who are naturally more inclined to be a wallflower type of person, but what was happening with past Chloe was more akin to how an abused person would act. Like, that level of social discomfort and ignorance in a noble society that she GREW UP in is just so much more than a weak personality.
Yes, yes, yes! It makes me feel so sketchy about the people who, while they didnt participate, didnt do anything to stop it. Like the butler. I love him, but I also think to myself "He KNEW?!?!?! WTF MAN?!?!?!"

That fear, lack of knowledge, and submissiveness is not the result of a weak personality. It's the result of either an abusive or neglectful home environment!
Did her tutors purposely get off on the power trip of keeping her ignorant?
Did she receive tutors at all?
Did her parents not care?
Did they participate in the abuse?
Seriously, I want to go back in time and take little Chloe in my arms and run far FAR away.
