Omg yes I agree with you!!!! The process was interesting but like you said everything would’ve been okay if it was avoided. Also with the whole apology! They never had a conversation about the whole thing that just happened and what’s going to happen from now on. I get it that it was a side story, stuff has to be cram but in the main story Dong-gyun and Jiwon had a talk and resolved their issues. I wish that they had that.

I agree with you on such a deep level. The 2 chapters right before the last one are extremely abusive and MD doesn't even appologize or explain himself after that. But Chanwoo appologizes multiple times. He is the abused one, his boundaries were violated, he's not the person who should appologize. Tbh I don't even get the feeling that MD actually loves Chanwoo...doing things like that just doesn't register in my brain as love.
yaoi gets away with so much bs because authors can always frame toxic relationship aspects in a positive light. I really think we could have gone without everything that happened to chanwoo and im not going to just forget because the author framed their relationship in a positive light a chapter directly after chanwoo's boundaries were overstepped. MD didn't even really properly apologize it was just ok in the story because its just assumed chanwoo forgives him and loves him. Its not a real story so I'm not expecting totally realistic relationship psychology, but its the portrayal dynamics like these (abuse -> abused party forgiving abuser with little question) in fiction is part of why so many abusive relationships go on for so long. On one hand its just a single story and maybe not everyone reading this is going to experience severe brain damage from a single idealized toxic relationship, but its indicative of a larger problem in romantic fiction (not just yaoi) as a whole and I hope pointing this out can open discussion and help people recognize this when it happens in other works. wow that was long
