Ikr but who really knows. It's manga logic, and plus if she didn't do this we wouldn't have the same story we are reading right now.
At least our mc is nice in where she would fall into ruin for her family.
Though the way she wanted to help her family could have been better, it's the thought that counts I guess?
I do not agree
1. If Mary marries in the royal family then her family's power will increase, not stabilised or decreased, and they will still be considered a threat to the royals
2. How can they make their business fail without arousing any suspicion.. and they r talking about INFLUENCE and POWER, not MONEY.. failing business will incur them loss of money but not loss of influence
3. Her father as she already said trusts people blindly
4. Yeah she can tell her father but as I already said in point 3, u can't just reduce ur business and solve the matter .. reducing ones power is up to the royal family, and in that case it might lead to execution or assassination or getting framed falsely, if the royals see them as THREAT to monarchy
I don't want Mary to fall in ruin but u can't call her dumb.. she is taking the fall coz she want to avoid the messy scenario in which the royals themselves get involved !
You have very good points, but...
1. Her father doesn't seem to think very highly of her, to put it nicely: "I had my hopes up that he would kindly take you in, though". To me it seems that he is not a overly kind father who spoiled his daughter, but one who has given up on her entirely. So he most likely wouldn't listen to her.
2. Looking back it always seems obvious. So it's not a matter of our MC being secretly a genius, but someone who already knows the outcome "reverse engineering" the motives behind the things that happened in the game. I'm not saying she is dumb. Just that, like we've seen from her actions so far, she is a bit delusional.
Which brings me to my third point:
3. They are discussing her fall as if it's something that is going to happen. It's not. And most certainly not like it did in the game. So far, both the Prince and the original MC don't have any reason to go against her.
Actually, they might team up to protect her from any harm from the royal family and the nobles, since they both are very thankful for her helping them get together.
Now what?
1. Her plan is about to fail and both the King and the nobles are still after their neck. But she has the Crown Prince's support.
2. She will achieve her goal of diminishing her house's power by marrying a commoner - her butler, obviously.
About her father specifically:
On my personal experience, great businessmen tend to pride themselves on being good judges of character - btw, how can her father be great at business and trust people blindly at the same time? It doesn't make any sense. Maybe our MC just don't want to see that it's her he doesn't care about enough to even TRY to "fix" her. But I digress.
My point is, if he got this far, he either:
1. Has a plan to get out of this situation (but originally didn't have to use it)
2. Actually wants the the throne
And also prideful people also don't like to listen to people telling them they are wrong. So I think he wouldn't listen to her anyway. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
You have some good points. I think most of the issues lie with the father's characterization. I don't think you can be both prideful and naively trusting at the same time while being a successful business man unless he is a puppet for someone else. Frankly I think it's a plot hole from the game or the actual writer because he should have known what's happening and take precautions.
And if he wants the throne then he's doing a very bad job about it. And I still believe there's several ways for her to prevent this without acting rashly. As someone said before she could marry someone of very low influence and thus drag the family down with her. But again if she is only going off what she knows from the game, and of she isn't very bright then I guess she sees this as her only option.
But I think there's too many 'what ifs' and assumptions to really justify the plot line
True.
But at least the plot holes involving the MC can be waved off due to the fact that this is a comedy and the joke is her obliviousness. So it can be expected that her plan will be trash and that she will not see the obvious solution to the problem even if it's right in front of her.
Her father on the other hand seems to be a case of bad writing. Like I said, the only explanation I can think of is that the MC misunderstood everything. That he was actually working for the King or something, that the nobles that deceived her father were actually being deceived, or that her father does have a plan. But most likely it's just a plot hole.
You.re thinking outside of the box, but the starting pointis that she has reasons to believe some things can't be change and part of the world paradigm can.t be altered : if she can't change her hair curls, obviously she can't expect to change her dad
How much she's right or wrong is probably somewhere in the middle, we know she does change some perceptions, but the timeline really seems to stick
This world is interesting because it's rules are way stricter than many
But it doesn't provide for a cute story
Um I'm pretty sure there's several better ways to avoid what would happen. Firstly she should just mention it to her father. If he's so smart and was able to build up the family so much he shouldn't be stupid and he'll get the gist. Then they can just make some businesses and properties fail and reduce their influence. Secondly, they don't seem to have much military influence so the royal family could just take measures to make sure they never get it, hence dissolving the risk. Even if they can't do that they just need her to marry into the royal family and they'd have control over their power. Basically there's too many alternatives for her to justify her behaviour.
