And i agree. The writing of this manwha is phenomenal although i find most of the main characters having traits to similar to each others personality. Still, its seems like the writer wants us to distrust McQueen. I think its realistic not to have black and white characters which i like (except for Chang the rapist, he can perish)
Right? I love the writing of this manga, and the art is good as well! Of course it is not perfect (I mean, what is?), but it is so much more common to find beautiful art than a good, realistic story with well-written characters!
I read someone comment that this felt too adult for them, they wanted to be petty and call the characters dirty names, but it didn't feel write because their discussions sounded too mature for it and I cracked laughing, heheheh.
But for me it is refreshing to see the characters communicating. And for a change the jealous, possessive and forceful jerk is not the love interest, but the rival! (And we can understand him more than I will ever understand other rapist characters that are painted like pitiful, one-sided love victims!) I really don't think he is a good person, his so called love for Ed only made him a slave of debts and abused or aggravated his feelings of intense loneliness. But the character makes sense.
I don't think McQueen is the only one to blame, he didn't force Ed to do anything, he didn't even insist that much. I wish Ed would take responsibility as well. I do agree with many of his accusations, but I think their relationship would feel more balanced if they'd talked about this as well.
And though I understand and agree with people who feel they came out of this damaged and this new relationship feels too cautious, I also think they can build something now that will be much more sincere, real and durable.
Good points Ed needs to man up. But let’s not forget the flash back of him and Ed when they were younger. Chang made. Move on Ed then, so Ed was aware of Chang’s feelings towards him. Ed also initiated the sex by grabbing and teasing Chang. You can hate change for the petty debt issue but the real villain is Ed. Ed also admitted he can’t forget Chang because he doesn’t know how to feel about him. Meaning Chang is still on his mind, Ed’s playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
You basically said Ed deserved to be raped because he initiated the teasing. Maybe reading yaoi has warped your sense of reality but changing your mind after saying you'll have sex with someone is okay, and anyone who doesn't respect that and forces themselves on you, is considered rape. How is an ex straight guy like Ed supposed to know that being coddled by chang would lead to being raped by him in the future. Ed is in no way guilty of Chang's evil prey behaviour. And for you to insinuate otherwise iz disgusting to me
You interpreted that way wrong. Like...way wrong, im saying that Ed is ignoring changs feelings. Feelings that Ed himself was aware of and chose to ignore. And may i add that my since of morality is not shaped by fiction im not a child. Yes chang is a monster but so is ED for playing victim. No one forced him to do porn, no one forced him to stay with chang that night he was bought by chang, he could have left and returned the money. Did he deserve that no, no he didn't but he knew Chang was a monster and pressed his luck. Its a observation not a declaration of acceptance.
Yeah in most cases when someone ignores your feelings they're not into you. And Chang is a grown ass man who should know that. Also you don't know how people will react under pressure, sometimes they don't act like themselves. So i dont blame Ed for not leaving, or for trying to gain some control after the way Chang was humiliating his profession, and when he came to his senses, it was too late. But he did come to his senses. I have no sympathy for Chang or rapists. For you to say the real villian is Ed. Is pretty telling that I did interpret it the right way. In addition telling men, especially those who've been raped to "man up" is wrong.
I should add that these so called "feelings" of Chang were never feelings of real love. I am not too sure Ed new Chang liked him, what with him choosing to explore instead of help him when his father and himself needed it, that doesn't scream LOVE to me.
Chang was the one who never accepted his own feelings of passion, and chose to hurt the one he supposedly loved, trying to kill these feelings. If he'd helped Ed, given him the money or at least didn't make him pay that absurd amount of interest, they might have stayed friends. Or who knows? Maybe Ed would have fallen for him if he felt loved instead of constricted and abused.
Thanks now i have a clearer point of view. From my POV it just looked as though ED suspected that chang had feelings for him and naturally chose to ignore them, then tested it that night. And I agree you never know how one would respond in that kind of situation, i suppose i view ED as strong and independent sort of street smart. I enjoy your input. What are your thoughts on Mcqueen? Do you think their relationship has a shot? Or do you think he just wants to win against chang?
My personal opinion is that they do have a shot! Their relationship started before McQueen even knew who Chang was, I believe he really likes Ed.
He may feel jealous because he can sense Ed and Chang have a connection that goes beyond Ed's "debts". But I also believe McQueen wants to help set Ed free from this, so he won't need to work in jobs which make him despise himself. If he was only a possessive domineering prick like Chang, he would have used the money and the videos to manipulate Ed into being dependent of him.
The fact that Chang didn't want the DVD being seen or for Ed to work as an escort does not mean he actually cares for Ed's well being. He just doesn't like to share him. If he did like him he would never try to corner Ed into working for him. THAT would break Ed forever. Ed would rather abuse his own body than help ruin other people's life like his was ruined.
No, never read it. I looked it up now that you mentioned it, but I'm conflicted, heheh. Can't say anything without reading it first, now can I?
About recommendations, those are hard to give! It depends a lot on what kind of story you like to read.
If you want another story with characters whose personalities make sense and who aren't, like, totally ok with rape, and also eventually talk to try and make themselves understood to one another, I would recommend Remnant Kemonohito. Maybe you already read it, though.
Im really really bad with names, i have to check out the cover art. Yuurieto try this one. Based on our conversation I believe this gem will definitely get your attention. Its got everything, great plot, mystery, death, gender bender, but also it has a serious understated view on sexuality. Its great! Its on my page under read. Thanks for the recommendation im gonna check it out
I still don’t like McQueen sorry I just don’t, I’m glad they are communicating and all but this character just rubs me the wrong way. IDK maybe I just need some cake...or a man....both maybe
