She brought trouble to him alright xD but I differ on her ruining his life. The guy was borderline suicidal even if we don't see it. He was living his life with so much depression holed up inside while keeping up with work stressing enviroment and the tense situation at home with Miya being a Shut in at the time.
He, by chance was kind to a random waitress, and this waitress while trying to repay this favor saw his loneliness and was attracted to him and helped him. In that sense, he himself admits Koto saved him.
I don't particularly like him dating a high schooler, and honestly he too knows it isn't right to do it but there are other elements that makes him unable to leave her alone.
I believe if the sweet kouhai at work would had come to him earlier this would've beem a more "normal" story. But then, this kind of things are the thrill of art and literature.

I don’t care in what sick world you live in, in the real world not only is it sick, it’s pedophilia, and you as a grown man you should go for at least a 20 or 18 year old but she’s 16, and she’s your daughter’s “friend” doesn’t really act a friend since she’s moving on your dad.
