If only that were the case! I really like your understanding/conclusion of the word! If you look up the word simp it will come up as meaning a silly or foolish person, but that's not how people use it. People use the term for men who are kind of submissive and obedient to a woman in the hopes of getting some. It's when the man is supposedly catering to the woman's every need without receving anything in return from the girl.
A simp is a man who foolishly overvalues a woman and puts her on a pedestal.
Simply put, a "Yes dear" man.
