Anyway, after reading Chapter 4, I just wanted to add, for the sake of readers who might come across this; I'd gone through an unhealthy relationship as well, and although I was only cheated on, NOT raped (i can't even begin to imagine this), I had never gotten closure when that relationship ended and I was so traumatised and broken for years.
Let me tell you, when shit people like that come back into your lives, they'll always ask if you are doing fine and their newfound tenderness in the way they speak will really surprise you. I hated it whenever my ex asked me this question because if they had really cared they would NOT have broken my heart and then throw it away in the first place. Chapter 4 made my stomach churn because everything JiHyun said was almost the exact same things my ex said to try to approach me again after the breakup.
Back to this webtoon, yes sure, JiHyun might have really matured over the years and MAYBE (big maybe) he truly feels sorry for what he did back then. But, I still do not think redemption is possible for such characters, at least not in this way. If they really matured they should just stay far, far away from the people they once hurt. In a way, I find it quite selfish that JiHyun can just insert himself into ChiWoo's life that easily. Anyway, this is how i view it since, let's not forget how hard it was for ChiWoo it finally get over JiHyun and the raping incident.
I know every situation is different and I am not trying to compare my own experiences with this webtoon's storyline. But y'all, just be noted (esp those of you who, fortunately, have not been in toxic relationships) that all the things JiHyun said in chapter 4 is just textbook script for bad people to try to reinsert themselves into somebody else's lives.
Y'all, stay safe from terrible romantic partners out there. It's not worth it.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Being in a toxic relationship is one of my worst nightmares and is also one of the reasons why i fear getting into a relationship. I will say that Chiwoo is a lot kinder than most of us. If I ever see the person who violated me in front of my eyes again, you can bet your ass that I’ll be throwing stuff and hurling expletives at him.
When Kyujin came, I felt more at ease. It just didn’t feel right to have Jihyun leaving without being reprimanded. That’s probably the least which needed to happen. He didn’t even go to jail for his crime. The absurdity. My heart couldn’t take it. :(
