I was about to say this. Like everyone is saying she's dumb, but she's from a modern world, hello??? That's child abuse right there. Nowadays who worry about being killed 24/7 like that?
A child who does not know how to play like his age. That's just too sad. For the mc & us readers, not just as a mother but as a human, it's just plain cruel to see this type of "education", that's why she's doing her best to interfere with these.
We also need to remind ourselves of the mc's knowledge & perspective.
She does not know Ain's real personality here. She still sees him as a child being forced to drinking poisons (like wth) & an innocent one at that, and the duke who is enforcing these actions.
She is also from the modern times. Who in their right mind would see a child being educated to enhance their endurance against poisons & think that it's normal?
