I think what the author is trying to tell people is that there is always room for improvement and you will always learn new things, even if what you're doing is the same thing. Even a master ceramicist can and will learn new techniques over his/her entire career or perhaps even in retirement if they no longer want to do it for money, which could be 40 years or more. There are limitations due to human physicality since we don't live forever, but this character was able to continue working on the very basics to create the strongest foundation even a master swordsman likely wouldn't have. Having a strong foundation is key to becoming strong in anything.
But these are just my thoughts on it.
Wouldn’t even ten years be enough to completely change a persons morals and all that stuff I feel like our main character is honestly one of the most incompetent (useless) person to even get the chance to train for a million years. Honestly he’s the last person that should’ve gotten the million year button. But at least he got extremely strong.
