Given the political nature of the problem, I’m guessing that they might be able to appease their parents through phrasing it as a marriage that will tie the families closer together in terms of business/social standing and the use of a surrogate. It’s not an ideal solution by any means, but old families can be stubborn about breaking traditions and would have a lot of power over them. (Personally I’d love to see them get married and see Ouga trying to calm down a baby horse!)
That is what saddens me about this fact. Even the manga ended in a way to make us see that they are going to have a relationship for awhile until the time comes that they need to settle down. Yet thinking about the solution that you give ( Them being married and breaking the rules before that only the same species can be bonded ) might really be challenging but I will like it more rather than knowing they wouldn’t be able to be married.
