You're so right! The "If you dont hate him you love him" narrative is pushed so hard in shoujo manga. It really makes me worry about how Japanese women see love. Sometimes people are just nice to the opposite gender... this idea is so gross
Yeah I definitely thought that it was hella weird that everyone is trying to manipulate her into giving into him, like sob story and all. They’re kinda trapping her with him, it’s hypocritical of them considering how much they hate the fact that he’s trapped to the spirits, his power and his past and yet here they are trapping her by persuading her that she’s the only other thing he’s living for ya know. Like the whole telling her about how unstable he would be without her..... bruh that’s toxic as hell.
I don't know why none of them have even a bit of a problem with what they're doing cos it's so wrong. Like I can understand forcing/pressuring her but none of them feel bad. Least of all that bitch of a princess who is fine with emotionally manipulating the maid with that if you don't hate him you love him bullshit, which she's fine with just cos she gets to be happy. Nobody apologises to the maid for forcing/pressuring her and these people are meant to be the good guys? Fuck that. I hate most of the characters. Also the only character who doesn't express a 'you have to marry him I don't care about your opinion' opinion is a dude who wants to fuck her. I hate the way this was executed. Ithe could have been a good story.
