it could be mistranslation because they might say it differently in the original language, or the term for it is too broad in english. but then again they couldve used 'host' anyways lol

Mistranslation could indeed be a possibility.
I feel like this needs more research. I think the psychiatrist should've used the term "host" instead of the "main personality" since they're all one of their own. The host is basically the first personality there is to the person before a certain trauma happens in which causing them to have the "alters". Also, DID is not curable. The personalities can only remain dormant when the body or host needs no protection.
