so I’ve read some of the comments saying hes transgender but hes not to me. his gender was never confirmed in the manga so this’ just my opinion. but i think j is more gender fluid/nonbinary. he could also just be a drag queen they addressed j as a he throughout the manga. j’s daughter however called j mom but we dont know why so maybe she just grew up where j weared “women” clothes and decided that was what was most appropriate. j also could’ve fit the role of mom much better and j didn’t really care since j is ok with being a mom or dad/genderfluid. it could also be with the translation of the manga you might never know. now at the end j was cross dressing/dressed as a women maybe he just felt like wearing those clothes those days you know? j could’ve wanted to be more of a “women” at that time. saying that j is transgender just doesnt sit right with me.

being non binary is still under the transgender umbrella. Transgender being anyone who doesn't feel fully in line with their birth sex/ gender. That's J...whether she or they, xe....never take a hormone shot. Transgenderism is more mental than physical. So if we look at it from that point of view. This is a trans coming of age story

non binary people can still be more “feminine” and “masculine” than just being in the middle as most people would think. so that could mean that js more of a “feminine” nonbinary. this story isnt sepcific about it but its truly just about lgbtqai+ and just an emotional roller coaster
