I totally agree with you.
Henry is the archetypcial fuckboy you can find in any Asian love stories who gets rewarded in the end. And his ex-wife was really an ass towards Sam!
Why couldn't Sam end up with Seth? Second Lead Syndrome!
The author could have gave us a more progressive message.
Instead of saying that the true love is your childhood sweetheart, there are other people out there who can bring you more happiness.
I cant imagine Sam and Seth together but I get what you mean. Henry is like in a harem of his own and his personality is making it conflicting to accept. If there's one thing I found "moving or touching" was that he tried to fall in love with Seth, too. Then I realized how much of a jerk he was to drag Seth around while he's being unfair to Sam.
And I understand the last part right, I agree that both of them were stuck on each other and the plot didnt grow well. It was too centered on their past and it didn't feel like they matured at all. (except Seth, Seth really had a character development)
Amen. I think you are the only one (or one of the fewest) to not put all the blame on Sam for being the bad guy who did never anything good towards Henry but being manipulative when throughout the story we can really see him being a little dense about his feelings but also so caring and cheerful towards everybody and most of all Henry.
Well, all Sam did was pull out and tried to make Henry do the chasing. Sam had always clung unto Henry and Henry was the one who made a bunch of excuses to run away from Sam. Besides, all the loving which Henry claims to feel for Sam is all in his head. I have no memory of Henry trying to prove his love except tail behind Sam. He confesses to Sam, yeah, but he runs away when Sam accepts and confesses back.
The last bit wasn't even about Henry confronting Sam but Sam cornering Henry so that he stops running away. ( ̄へ ̄)
Exactly my point. Henry was in love with Sam his entire life but he has never had the courage to tell him or even show it a little because was afraid of losing him and not even ready to love him so I can’t quite understand why people keep saying that Sam doesn’t deserve Henry just because he even got married ignoring Henry’s feelings. It’s the opposite, I think that Sam tried everything he could to stop Henry to keep running away from him from the very moment in which he understood that he was in love with Henry.
Let me rant for a while. I love the start, y'know. It really gives me the vibes of confronting your fears and having to have hurt everyone until you stop running. I was going for that until bam! Contradictions started surfacing and I dont understand what the heck is happening except that Seth had a taste of his bittersweet first love.
Henry... You confusing son of a bitch. What is it really that kept you from loving Sam hmm? At first it sounded as if Sam was just dense and you wanted to be the typical "let him be happy without me but still glad he's by my side". Then Seth got roped in and suddenly you're actually guilty of having hurt Sam and wanted to go. AND THEN suddenly it's because you're just being delusioned about Sam and had been ignoring how obsessive he is about you. AND FUCKING FINALLY, it was because he was noncommittal but also that if you were to be lovers you might lose more than you can (aka being friends with him and having to lose the family youve found in his)
You knowing that Sam was actually in love with you WAS NOT a plot twist, it was a big "THE FUCK?"
You mean to tell me that all this was just because you seriously didnt know how to love and have been giving everyone (yourself, the readers (or maybe just me) , and the whole cast) a hard time understand what it really is that keeps you from straightening your relationship with Sam??? You dont seem to even know WHY you're running away.
