It’s is literally the backbone of yaoi. Japan society is very conservative so many women are sexually repressed so the fantasy of having someone bring out their sexuality has brought this trope as the most desirable in most female targeted romance centered genres. The reality is actually toxic in how it’s actually portrayed or brought out but in the confines of fiction it’s an opportunity to flourish in their sexual desires without feeling wrong for having someone else the be source of their desire rather than acting on it in their self interest.
It’s because of society’s expectation for men have created a toxic portrayal and this the real definition of toxic masculinity not just men doing terrible things but men doing terrible or unquestionable actions because it’s what we tell men it is okay for them to do or should be doing to be a “real man”. So we get hyper sexualized objectifying male archetypes to aspire to and put on pedestals for both growing boys and their developing female love interests. Of course this isn’t even limited to heterosexual men but men of all sexual orientations. It’s why boys will be boys for multiple sexual partners and why a girl is a slut for the same reason. Yaoi just happens to take all of that and takes usually the worse parts of this idealization to be fantasy because young girls have been thought to desire men in that way so even the dark parts of their own self made fantasies those expectations are still present despite their real life very negative effect and oppression of female identity and expression. It’s some real Freud irony.
I can say for sure that there are more and more depictions of men pursuing intimacies without the classic toxic masculinity in mangas, manhwas and webtoons.
Of course that toxic trope won't be entirely gone but there is progressive even it is slow.
You should have seen mainstream shoujo and yaoi in the 90s and 2000s. Abuse, sexual assault, rape etc were very quite common in these genres for many readers.
Thanks for the helpful education.

The Nice Guy Trope, Explained
Hello Everyone and my question for you is:
Would you really welcome a Fuckboy like Godai as a dating partner???
I mean no matter in Shoujo, Josei or Yaoi you always see that type of Alpha guy who has feelings for you but still sleeps around while giving you mixed signals.....
I do not like the power dynamic between an entitled promiscious jerk and a insecure inexperienced virgin!
