As someone who is friends with someone who has DID I have never felt threatened by them or any of their "others" (personalities) they have never been a danger to themselves or others. DID varies between people. As you said some can be threatening and they can be a danger but there are a lot of people who live a relatively "normal" life. Please don't just say things that make it seem that all DID patients are dangerous and should be put in a mental institute away from society.
I understand your point of view but please understand they are people and even though they display them differently they too have thoughts and emotions and by holding negative stereotypes it will only hinder the development of acceptance for those who are sufferening from DID.

Portraying people with DID as extremely dangerous and a threat (in films such as Split), fuel the negative stigma surrounding it and can hurt people that have it, or prevent them from getting help.
And while loads of helpful therapy is good, they don't need to be locked up in an asylum (if that's what u meant by intensive care), unless they are highly suicidal, are prone to violent outbursts and etc.
If you didn't want people with DID to be seen as extremely dangerous/violent, that's cool just be a bit mindful how how you phrase things.

Yet this manga does portray a person with alters as being dangerous to others. We have seen how it manifests in the majority of his alters to be a sexual predator who has assaulted the MC many times over 3 chapters. The author could have still shown sex scenes, but where they are equally consensual. The MC doesn't communicate he has DID to his room mate, which in this case has made the room mate a victim of sexual abuse. This may come off extreme to say, but on paper that's just the facts of how the author has portrayed the disorder and nor very realistic either. The only potential thing to work with is the child alter who seems an potential answer in what triggered the DID. But once again it seems the author is exploiting a real, disorder that can cause great suffering to be all "tee hee, what character will assault the guy next, the smooth one, the kind one " etc which is cheap.

Great that you have had good experiences with them but you are not them and you don’t know which struggles they face. Alone the fact that they have DID is very dangerous since they could easily “forget” what actually happened. A person with anxiety is also a threat to themselves just bc they have a mental illness. A mental illness as serious as DID cannot be left untreated and whether you like it or not it is a very serious illness which burdens the people who suffer from it greatly. I’m not spreading any stereotypes. People with depression all dislike themselves greatly, people with OCD all have obsessive mannerisms, people with schizophrenia all have delusions and people with DID all have multiple personalities. These are all very dangerous things. People shouldn’t always be accepted as they are, this is a very dangerous thing you’re stating. Anyone who has a severe mental illness should get intensive care.

Please read my reply to @Junipertree . I assume I’ve elaborated a little bit further on my standpoint. I never said people with DID are violent, I said they are dangerous because they hold the potential of harming themselves and burdening themselves in ways which are hard to follow and because they aren’t fully aware of themselves they already have a high possibility to harm without being aware. The very nature of DID is dangerous. THE DISORDER IS DANGEROUS.

Once again, read my replies. I’m fully aware that DID comes from trauma, a lot of mental illnesses do. I’m not spreading any stigma nor misinformation. My original comment could have been worded better but I assumed it was simple enough to understand, as previously pointed out to me, it wasn’t. I further elaborated in my replies to @Junipertree and the anonymous account.

I did read carefully. And you were very clear in what you “implied”. In fact, it wasn’t even implied - you basically said people with DID are dangerous and should be out of society in psychiatric care. I’m glad other people are commenting and pointing your shit out too bc what you said was not right. And what’s interesting is that you’ve realized that you were misinformed (hence your backpedaling). Good.

I'm just random anon and you are so fuckin pressed. People on this site don't care about rapes, taking advantages of drunk or drug users. They don't understand definition of consent, coercion, sexual abuse.
I hope you are so rightful in every of the threads.

Where did I backpedal? I’m not misinformed whatsoever. It is very apparent that you haven’t read anything thoroughly and I advise you to do so before making claims and accusations. I said they shouldn’t be left untreated since DID is a severe mental illness. You wouldn’t knowingly let a schizophrenic untreated. DID is dangerous. It is a greatly burdening mental disorder. I never said that the person suffering from DID is dangerous, I said that they aren’t fully conscious in a sense of they aren’t aware of themselves. The very nature of DID is dangerous and threatening, not in a way you should be afraid of but in a way you should be aware of. Again, IT IS A SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS WHICH BURDENS THE PERSON AND THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM. Every mental illness burdens people’s lives and every person inflicted with a mental illness has influences on the people immediately around them (parents/caretakers/etc). @xielian_inlove , since you’ve blocked me I can’t directly respond to you... but great that you are being so mature.
Again, if a person has DID they need to be in intensive care. It’s an extremely dangerous disorder and they are a threat to society but mostly themselves. I’m aware that this is yaoi and they use/exploit mental illnesses to make the story more “spicy” and won’t represent everything accurately but it’s reckless to take a disorder as rare and dangerous (and complex) as DID and not portray it as the threat it is. Edit: please read my replies. I never insinuated that people with DID are violent, harmful or bad people. THE MENTAL ILLNESS IS A SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS AND IT IS HARMFUL AND DANGEROUS BY NATURE, HOWEVER, THAT DOESNT MEAN THAT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE DID ARE DANGEROUS. THEIR MENTAL ILLNESS IS. PLEASE READ MY REPLIES. I ELABORATED WAY MORE THOROUGHLY AND MADE IT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND!!
